Happy Valentine's Day

What a crazy last couple of days!!!  Here's the story....Wednesday morning I started having some contractions.  Of course, this being my first, I thought they were just Braxton Hicks.  I started some light cleaning around the house and noticed that these contractions were kinda different.  Needless to say, I was having to breathe through them.  I started timing them and they were 3-6 min. apart.  I waited to call the hospital because I wanted to be sure...so I made sure that I had everything together.  Finally, at 2:30 pm I called and they told me to come on up.  Bryant was still at work so I had to meet him somewhere off 65.  I think that I looked pretty funny driving and having this terrible look on my face.  We get to Dr. Ross's office and I immediately start apologizing.  I still think that it was false labor.  Dr. Ross checked and said, "You're going to have this baby soon."  I was shocked!!!!  I had done nothing as far as progression the previous day!

Labor was interesting......a little difficult.  I pushed for 2.5 hours and still no Hudson.  Dr. Mckenzie, one of Dr. Ross's partners, came in and told me that Hudson was facing up; thus, making pushing difficult.  He said that I could still deliver without a c-section but he was going to have to HELP me.  I pushed for another 30 minutes to get Hudson down and then Dr. Mc used forceps the rest of the way.  When they put my sweet boy on my chest, the hard labor was so so worth it.  He is beautiful with a head full of black hair!  He weighed 7lbs. 8 oz, 21.5 inches long, and head circumference of 13.5 inches.  It was love at first sight.....I can't even explain it.  But I do know that God is an amazing creator and I was awestruck by his power at that moment.  Bryant and I appreciate everybody's calls and prayers.  We will post more pics soon.

Nada

Visited Dr. Ross today and needless to say......we have zero progress as of last week!!  Still not dilated, 60% effaced, and Hudson is still kicking my ribs.  As we were walking out of the office, Bryant told me to wipe the depressed look off my face.  My facial expressions always reveal myself.  At least, Bryant and I will have Valentine's Day to ourselves.  I'll be shocked if Hudson decides to come before then.  I know that we need to enjoy this time if peace and quiet, but waiting is so hard!!!  God's timing is perfect and that is giving me peace:)  Until then.....

Waiting.....

So, now I am 38 weeks pregnant.  So far, 60% effaced and "almost 1 cm" dilated.  We go again tomorrow to see if Hudson has made any progress.  So far, I feel good.  My feet are definitely swollen but other than that..... I know that I promised to post some pictures.  I have  got to figure this MAC out.  Bryant and I are both clueless when it comes to technology.  I'm amazed that I figured out how to create this blog.  I have had three showers thrown by some of the sweetest people.  Bryant and I are so blessed beyond measure!  Baby stuff is NOT cheap and since I have not started my CRNA job yet, we are so thankful!!!  We'll keep you updated over the next few weeks.  Hopefully, Hudson will be ready to greet us soon!

Anticipation

Okay, so the countdown has begun.  We have 4 weeks 5 days before little man is to arrive.  As I write this, I'm thinking, "what if he comes before then?"  Am I ready?  I don't know.  Are you EVER ready for your first child.? I just know that I am excited and scared all at the same time.  I wake up frequently now at night....God just getting me ready for those nighttime feedings.  I wake up and think about all the "stuff" that I need to do.  Everybody tells me that never goes away.  I just can't wait to meet him and see what he looks like.  If anybody has some advice, bring it on!  I'm up for any encouragement! We'll keep you posted on his progress.  I'll start "getting checked" next week!

Amazing Weekend

Well...a lot has been going on at our household.  First things first....I found out this past Friday that I am now a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist!!  School is officially over...forever!!  Our celebration was short lived when we got a call that two of our youth in our church were in a very bad car accident on 280.  Micah was air-lifted to UAB with a head injury and Lindsay Kate was taken to Children's via ambulance.  We knew Lindsay Kate's injuries weren't life threatening but she still was in tons of pain with a broken hip, wrist, and collar bone.  Micah, who is LK's older brother, had a head injury and the outcome looked very grim.  We rushed up to UAB and waited for results.  Micah began responding to pain but still had not opened his eyes. He was still on a ventilator.  We just prayed that God's glory would be seen in this accident and also praying for healing...in whatever fashion our Heavenly Father ordained it.  I am so happy to say that Micah is sitting up talking and Lindsay Kate is moving around a little by herself. I have seen God's glory in all of this!!!  It has been amazing to witness.  Hudson is still kicking away!  We had a baby shower at my parent's church this past Sunday.  It was so nice and I was so grateful for the ladies who helped with it. I'll post some pictures of the shower soon!

Happy New Year

Happy 2009!!  Things have been crazy around our house.  I took my CRNA boards December 23 and now I'm just waiting for results.  Since I have all this time on my hands, I have been nesting. It's amazing how much you neglect as far as housework goes when you have been in school for 27 months.  Bryant has been a great helper though.  Hudson's room is almost finished.....well maybe almost is stretching it a bit.  I'll post some pics when it is complete.  I am really excited about this upcoming year.  We have a lot going on....new baby, job,...... I'm truly blessed with the best husband and family!  I hope your 2009 is filled joy and many blessings!!
